THE APOLOGIZER
"Truth is a luxury, Survival is a business."
The Apologizer is a satirical, first-person crisis management simulation. You are The Fixer, a mercenary PR specialist hired to defend the monsters of the world. When a billionaire's self-driving car optimizes a pedestrian or a dictator accidentally admits to a war crime on a hot mic, you are the one they call. You aren't here to be the hero. You're here to ensure the public stays compliant, and the landlord doesn't knock on your door.
THE PR TRIANGLE
Every lie has a cost. If Loyalty, Trust, or Sanity hit zero, the story ends. Violently. Balance the Boss's Loyalty, the Public's Trust, and your own Sanity to survive.
BPM-DRIVEN STRESS
Your character's physical state when lying matters. As the press screams, your heart rate climbs in real-time. Stay calm or lose your words (and dignity) in front of the crowd.
- 90 BPM: The screen begins to pulse with a red "fainting" vignette. You are about to faint.
- 140 BPM: Your brain glitches. Your sophisticated lies are replaced with pathetic stutters (????, No Comment??).
- The Fix: Hold SPACE to gulp water from the podium glass to lower your pulse. But beware, the media hates a stall tactic, and your water resources are limited.
THE DIGITAL WORLD
Watch the world react to your lies on social media. Navigate anonymous Opposition Bribes that offer a month's rent in exchange for the ''Fatal Truth''.
LEAK THE PARROT
Your pet parrot, Leak, knows everything. Even 2012's Riri songs. In the silence of your hollow apartment, he will scream your own propaganda back at you. Feed him well to keep your sanity intact.
THE DAILY GRIND
Survive the Rent Cycle.
- 07:00: Wake up in your miserable apartment. Check your bank balance on your 90s-era laptop.
- 07:30: Choose your morning ritual. Talk to the bird, or study the classified dossier folder. You only have 3 action points before the work day begins.
- 08:00: The black sedan honks downstairs. It's showtime!
